GARRY / USB UPDATES

Your computer tools and mobile tools, together.

The cumulative September 23 update includes Computer Security, Physical Access Check, Phone & Tablet Reset, Garry Updates and boot recovery. It also fixes the verified Rufus persistence-menu mismatch that stopped installation.

Install through Garry Updates

  1. Keep Garry booted from the USB, connected to power and your trusted Wi-Fi. Close any older Garry Updates window.
  2. Open Garry Updates again, from the desktop or Applications → System. If needed, run garry-updates in a terminal.
  3. Select Check for updates, then Download update. The release should say rufus-compat-20260923 (sequence 4).
  4. Select Install for next restart. Wait for verified installation before restarting. Then restart normally with the USB still connected.

No Rufus flash or separate formatting step is needed for the supported USB. Existing persistence is preserved. An unrelated error still requires diagnosis; do not force an update after a failed check.

What is included and where to open it

FeatureAccess and scope
Computer SecurityDesktop or Applications → System. Reviews the running Garry Linux session, local network settings, login settings and system security. Includes selected single-device port, DNS and HTTPS checks, reports and file hashes.
Physical Access CheckSeparate desktop shortcut. Tests whether a selected Windows NTFS partition exposes a small system-file sample from USB. Optional demonstration marker makes a result visible. It does not sign into Windows or retrieve passwords.
Windows Security CheckDownload below and run inside Windows. Reports account and password-policy settings, BitLocker, Secure Boot/TPM, firewall, Defender and remote-access settings. It does not collect users' passwords.
Wi-Fi and network toolsYour existing connectivity layer and Wi-Fi controls remain in place. Computer Security includes a Wi-Fi report. The cumulative security addon preserves an installed connectivity layer; it does not install that older separate layer on a fresh base image.
Space desktop, Garry HQ and Codex RemoteExisting desktop, shortcuts and connection setup remain in place. Saved Wi-Fi needs working persistence. HQ enrollment and Codex authentication still need their own initial setup.
Phone & Tablet ResetNew desktop/Application shortcut. Apple: Setup & help → Setup tools, then one device in recovery mode. Android: official manufacturer reset instructions. Erasure needs its own confirmation; installing the USB update does not erase a phone.
Online updates and boot recoveryGarry Updates, backed-up boot-menu changes, integrity checks, normal/recovery boot choices and the verified multi-layer boot compatibility fix.

Native Mac assessment remains an unpublished prototype. This AMD64 USB does not boot Apple Silicon. Physical phone restores and installation on your particular USB remain unverified until performed and checked.

Wi-Fi tools: easy access and setup

  1. Open Applications → System → Garry Wi-Fi Tools, or open Computer Security → Wi-Fi tools. In a terminal, the same launcher is garry-wifi-tools.
  2. Select 1 — Local Wi-Fi security report to see the adapter, driver, radio state and cached network encryption information.
  3. Select 4 — Adapter capabilities to inspect the actual adapter's supported modes. A working internet connection alone does not confirm support for specialized wireless tests.

The existing connectivity addon bundles the tool dependencies and sets them up at startup. If a tool is missing, show the output of journalctl -u garry-security-tools so the failed setup can be diagnosed. No unrelated third-party installer is needed.

Also available: Wavemon signal display and Aircrack-ng help. The current report checks configuration; it does not try passwords, enter Wi-Fi, capture authentication traffic or certify password strength. A separate password-resistance assessment needs the owner's exact network, router details and a compatible adapter. Installing a tool alone is not a completed security test.

For a saved report, open Computer Security, choose the Wi-Fi security profile and click Run check. Keep the report private; it contains network details.

Windows Security Check

Open this page while running Windows. Download and extract the entire ZIP, then double-click Run-Security-Check.cmd. Review its report; unavailable checks are identified. This page provides a working download route because the older USB-local guide uses a relative link that does not resolve from the local disk.

What the compatibility fix changes

Rufus added the persistence option to the published boot menus without updating their original checksum file. The two photographed menu hashes were reproduced exactly from the shipped image. This update recognizes only those exact known variants, keeps the original bytes in its backup and verifies the full base image. Other unknown changes still stop installation.

The security and mobile software payload is byte-for-byte the previous cumulative release. No passwords are extracted and no account lock is removed. Apple Activation Lock and Android account verification may still be required after a reset.
