GARRY / RECOVERY & COMPUTER SECURITY
Check protection. Recover with evidence.
September 23, 2026 update. Checks run only when you start them. Reports stay on that computer.
Check a Windows computer
Run this inside Windows on a computer you own or administer.
Download Windows Security Check
- Extract the entire ZIP to a folder.
- Open Run-Security-Check.cmd.
- Read the private report that opens. If a check says Unavailable, it was not verified.
The check reviews local password and account-lockout policy, automatic sign-in, disk protection, Secure Boot/TPM, firewall, Defender and Remote Desktop. It never requests passwords, tries logins, retrieves password hashes or recovery keys, or uploads results. It does not change security settings.
A policy check cannot prove that your current password is strong. Microsoft/organization account policy, online MFA and Windows Hello PIN protection are separate. If Windows blocks the script, review the README and the script before trusting the download; organization policy may require your administrator. No execution-policy bypass or automatic privilege elevation is included.
Check Garry Linux
After this add-on is installed, open Computer Security on the desktop or in Applications → System. Choose Login and device security, then Run check.
It checks this running Linux system. Booting Garry does not test the Windows account on the computer's internal drive. Reports survive a restart only when your USB has working persistence.
If Garry stalls during startup
The recovery update makes boot messages visible on the physical display and adds explicit diagnostic choices:
- Normal: preserves the existing user and persistence settings.
- Basic graphics: tries a simpler graphics path while retaining those settings.
- Temporary no-persistence diagnosis: starts without loading saved USB changes. It does not erase saved data, but changes made in this diagnostic session will not persist.
- Boot diagnostics: exposes more startup detail for investigation.
A menu update cannot repair a failing flash drive, connection or corrupted filesystem. It makes failures easier to identify and gives you reversible recovery options. Physical boot on your computer still needs verification.
Download USB maintenance kit · Checksums
This kit is for a verified mounted Garry USB and includes a Python 3.10+ maintenance tool. It defaults to inspection only, backs up affected files before writes, and does not format or repartition. Return the USB to the home PC for assisted application. The existing full ISO download has not been replaced by this update.
